Tobias Hanbury

President of ISG Brasil & South America

After graduating with a Law degree from Exeter University, UK, Tobias qualified as a Barrister in London in 1985 before pursuing an international business career.

He joined Jardine Matheson in 1986 and over the next 11 years worked in their wines & spirits business in joint-ventures with Moet-Hennessy, Diageo and Bacardi-Martini, in Hong Kong, Japan and then South-East Asia, in a variety of marketing, sales and general management roles.

In 1997, Tobias went on to join The Coca-Cola Company and in 1998 was appointed as General Manager of Coca-Cola Far-East, responsible for a fully-integrated manufacturing, marketing, sales & distribution organisation, based in Singapore.

After relocating to Brazil in 2004, Tobias became an independent consultant for Coca-Cola and undertook a number of projects for the Coca-Cola System worldwide. These included:

  • A full review of Coca-Cola Brazil’s strategy and business model for accelerating the growth of non-carbonated beverages.
  • The strategy for the acquisition of Coca-Cola’s bottling business in the Philippines.
  • The redefinition of Coca-Cola’s non-carbonated strategy in South Africa.
  • The acquisition by Coca-Cola Brazil of a major juice competitor.
  • The repositioning and rebranding of a newly-acquired tea company, also in Brazil.

In 2008, Tobias established the ISG team based in Rio de Janeiro and is focused on several stadia projects as part of Brazil’s preparation to host the FIFA World Cup in 2014.
